This hand painted Icon is made according to Greek traditions. The Nursing Mother of God, Virgo Lactans, or Madonna Lactans, is an iconography of the Madonna and Child in which the Virgin Mary is shown breastfeeding the infant Jesus. In Italian it is called the Madonna del Latte ("Madonna of milk"). It was a common type in painting until the change in atmosphere after the Council of Trent, in which it was rather discouraged by the church, at least in public contexts, on grounds of propriety.

This Icon amazes us with its beauty and emotional charge. She will accompagny little Vera, born on August 12, 2022 in Paris. And painted in Corfou, where little Vera ancestor, born him on August 12, 1893, soldier joined the French Army of Orient to fight in Greece end of 1916. He had admired the arts of the country despite the fighting. It's troubling...
